During the first trimester of your pregnancy, Women’s Care Group offers Genecare screening for Trisomies 13, 18 and 21. These three chromosome abnormalities are associated with Patau syndrome, Edwards syndrome and Down syndrome. They account for approximately 50% of the chromosome abnormalities seen at birth.
 
The screening will consist of obtaining blood samples and ultrasound measurements between 11 weeks 3 days and 13 weeks 6 days. The screening is not a diagnosis and does not screen for all possible abnormalities; however, it can be helpful in determining if additional testing is needed.
